Your foot contains 26 small bones, 114 ligaments, 20 muscles as well as numerous blood vessels and nerves. It is a marvellous piece of engineering which can be commonly ignored and abused in modern life.
WHAT IS REFLEXOLOGY?
Reflexology is a form of massage given through the feet. Every part of the foot is covered using thumb and finger pressure over reflex points. The reflex points correspond to all of the glands, organs and parts of the body. This is a therapy that works with the body’s natural energy. We have no name for this in western terms, but it is known as ‘prana’ in India, ‘chi’ in China, and ‘ki’ in Japan. It is also recognised in many other parts of the world. The whole body is treated within one session with the aim of balancing and harmonising the body’s natural equilibrium, and helping the body to restore and repair.
WHO CAN BENEFIT FROM REFLEXOLOGY?
Reflexology can be used on many people from children to the elderly. It’s benefits can range from restoring and invigorating poor energy, to the relief of migraines or IBS symptoms. Remember, everyone is an individual and will repond differently to this treatment. The only way to find out if it can help you, is to try it.
Reflexology in itself cannot be used for diagnosis of a medical condition, but can be one link in a chain to help you as a complimentary therapy to find and treat the disease or imbalance within your body.
